Want to save on your energy bill?
There is no denying that energy bills go up in the winter months. Paying these high bills can be frustrating and wreak havoc on your budget. Often this can feel out of your control.
However, there are simple steps you can take that will help bring your costs down.
Adjust your thermostat: One of the easiest things you can do to lower your energy bill is to turn your thermostat down a few degrees, especially when you are not at home or while you are sleeping. To make this even easier, swap out your old thermostats for programmable ones. These will automatically make the adjustments for you.
Change light bulbs: It pays to change your light bulbs in fixtures you use the most often! Find light bulbs that have the Energy Star logo and you will notice changes in your energy usage.
Seal doorways and windows: Keep the warm air inside! This is one of the biggest ways to waste energy. Take time to seal doors and windows so that the heat in your house stays inside.
Adjust water temperature: Water heaters use a lot of energy. The default settings on most water heaters is 140 degrees. You can drop this to 120 degrees and save money!
Purchase new energy efficient appliances: Appliances also waste a lot of energy, especially ones that are old. Investing in new water heaters, refrigerators, washers and dryers can really cut down on your energy bills.
Old equipment wastes energy. Whether it is hot water heaters or healing and air conditioning units, these will really increase your energy bills. If you are ready to invest in updating your equipment, PBCI-Allen can help!
